ARLENE'S HINT FOR NOVEMBER

WASHING SPUDS IN WASHING MACHINE

Since my hands are numb and weak from MS I often have to find a way to accomplish simple, but tedious tasks, such as scrubbing veggies. Trying not to use my hands too much, which makes them worse, this is what I do:

I wash potatoes, beets, carrots, cukes and other hard veggies in my automatic washing machine.

  1. Place fresh from garden (dirty veggies) in water
  2. Set water temp. to cold
  3. Fill to cover
  4. Add a clean towel as a cushion to prevent bruising and 2-3 tbsp. salt (as a safe scrubbing agent)
  5. Set washer to rinse and spin
  6. In no time at all you have nice clean veggies ready to be prepared in your favorite way.
